Krabi beaches and islands

From busy Patong beach in Phuket we moved to a beach called Ao Nang near Krabi. Much better. Less crowded and commercial, and with a more relaxed atmosphere. Tourists are younger and more beautiful. :)
We've been enjoying a few days exploring the beaches and some of the islands around Krabi. We spent part of our time snorkeling and kayaking. It's been fun. Kayaks are a good way to explore nearby places, especially when Simon does most of the paddling.
The picture was shot in an island called Hong, which is part of a national park, so nobody lives there. Picture postcard scenery: turquoise water with the backdrop of spectacular limestone cliffs. Not to mention Simon posing as a model. Reminders of the 2004 tsunami are everywhere, like wrecks in Hong island, towers with warning speakers in every beach, and signs marking nearby evacuation sites. However, life has moved on, structures rebuilt, and we haven't seen any destroyed buildings.
I took my last pill yesterday and declared myself fully recovered from my leg injury. Ready for the runway. But Simon took the baton and got a little infection in his right ear. Nothing serious, just a common problem from snorkeling. So today he started with his own battery of pills and drops prescribed by Dr. Pruittipong Khantiworapong, MD. (Don't worry, good doctor, Simon liked him). Unfortunately, Simon needs to keep his right ear out of the water. It's really funny to watch him swim side stroke on his left side. :)
Tomorrow Wednesday we'll chill out and enjoy our last day on the beach. On Thursday we are taking Air Asia back to Singapore, and Friday we farewell SE Asia... for now.
