We rented bikes and set out to explore the city's attractions. We visited a few pagodas and tombs, including Thien Mu pagoda in the picture. After lunch in a typical local street side eating spot, where the only way to order food is by pointing, we visited the Citadel and the Forbidden Purple City inside it. The place is in need of some TLC, but the scale is very impressive anyway.
Later, we even had a chance to attend Mass in Vietnamese. Our bikes outside Notre Dame cathedral were just a couple among dozens and dozens parked in the backyard. We felt like locals, although we couldn't follow the songs. At the time when everybody gives peace, instead of a kiss or a hand shake, they just bow to each other with their heads. Simon and I did same, of course.
At night we had dinner by the river, and then to bed early since we have an early start. Tomorrow we plan to catch the 8am bus to Hoi An, which is ~3 hours south.
