Gilis - Blood, Sweat, and Sunburn

Bali was fun. On Wednesday we spent time in Seminyak pool/beach/dinner/drinks/dancing. On Thursday morning we took a 2-hour boat to Gili Trawangan, a tiny island with a small village where there is electricity and air conditioning, but there are no motor vehicles, just bicycles and carts pulled by ponies.
The water is clear like I've never seen before. Sunny skies, a little breeze for perfect temperature, just gorgeous.
Instead of spending the entire day doing nothing on the beach, Maurita and I felt adventurous and grabbed a couple of bikes to ride around the island.
That wasn't a good idea. To begin with, there is not much to see on the other side. In addition, little known to us, most of the island's circling road is just sand. And today we learned, it is very hard to bike on sand. It was hot, we had a couple of mishaps and suffered minor scratches. To top it all, the beautiful sun was scorching and now we have red marks to prove it.
In summary, Gili Trawangan is a paradise island, as long as you keep it to lying on the beach and dipping into the sea. That's exactly what we are doing tomorrow.
