Siem Reap - Day 1

As the literature advices, we started our first temple hunting day by focusing on those in the peripheries. On days 2 and 3 we intend to get closer and eventually end with Angkor Wat. So we hired a tuk tuk and ventured to those sites that are several km away from Siem Reap.
The highlights of the day were:
- The temples are ruins, none of them is functional today (Ignorant me didn't know that)
- Majority are Hindu; there are only a few Buddhists
- Some are so big that they look like labyrinths
- All of them, and especially Banteay Srei, are perfect for the word "intricate"
- They are really old: from the 9th to 13th centuries. In some cases, nature has embraced them. We saw a tree that has grown and is supporting the entrance to a temple (it seems as if Simon is on an adventures movie set)
We have many more temples to go tomorrow and the day after. Weather is the best so far.
