We saw some temples with trees growing on, in, and around them. We climbed up some temples that were set on hills. We went to some sites filled with tourists, and some where there were very few people.
One of the highlights of the day was the actual bike ride from temple to temple through forests and rice paddy fields. Blue skies. The pictures is not very clear but I'm riding through this huge entrance that has a face on the top front.
The same Water Festival that was going on in Phnom Penh was also taking place in Siem Reap, though in smaller scale: smaller river, smaller and fewer boats racing, less fancy fireworks, and no King in attendance. But the spirit was the same, everybody on the streets, in full celebration. The last day of the festival was today, it's been a party ever since we arrived in this country.
On the bad news front: I have a cold that makes me cough all the time; and one of our bikes broke down on our way back and it got dark in a road with no lights. On the good news front: we stopped to ask for help in a little house in the middle of nowhere and a family came out to help us, fixed the bike, and wanted no money for the help. The Cambodians we've encountered are so nice.
Tomorrow, last day in Siem Reap, the main objective is Angkor Wat.
