Thailand - Laos Border Crossing
This has got to be one of the most efficient border crossings anywhere. No big immigration halls, no long lines, no officials barking about cell phones. Just a little office on the Thai side of the Mekong, a quick walk down the river bank, a bit of load balancing to accommodate my jumbo backpack, and we were off across the river to the boat ramp on the other side. No visa? No problem. The helpful Laotians will give you one. And the paperwork moved so fast that we could barely keep up. Total time elapsed from leaving to Thailand to passing out of Laotian immigration - about 20 minutes.
